Whereas the Government of Maharashtra considers that the following Toddy (Manufacturing, Possession and Consumption) Rules, 1961, should be brought into force on 1st day of April 1961;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 52 and 53 and 1[clause (e) of sub-section (2)] of section 143 of the Bombay prohibition Act, 1949 (Bom. XXV of 1949), the government of Maharashtra is pleased to make the following Rules, namely ;

1 Short title, extent and commencement शीर्षक, व्याप्ती आणि प्रारंभ.[View all order & notifications]

These Rules may be called the Toddy (Manufacture, Possession and Consumption) Rules, 1961.

(2)

they extend to the area of the Chanda District specified in the Schedule to these Rules.

(3)

they shall come into force on and with effect from the 1st day of April, 1961.

2 Application for licence परवान्यासाठी अर्ज.[View all order & notifications]

Any person desiring to manufacture and posses toddy for domestic consumption may apply either in writing or orally to the Collector of the Chanda district or the Tahsildar of Gadchiroli or Sironacha for a permit in that behalf.

3 Grant of licence परवाना देणे.[View all order & notifications]

The Collector, or as the case may be the Tahsildar may, having regard to the general back wardness of the people and the habits thereof to which the applicant belongs, grant the applicant a licence in the form thereto, on payment of a fee of seventy-five paise or may, after giving the applicant an apportunity of stating his case, and after recording his reasons therefore, refuse to grant the licence

4 Duration of licence परवान्याचा कालावधी.[View all order & notifications]

No such licence shall be granted for a period beyond 30th day June next following the date of commencement of the licence.

5 Number of trees to be tapped छेदन करावयाच्या ताडीच्या झाडांची संख्या.[View all order & notifications]

A  licensee shall not tap any tree which he is not authorised to tap under the licence.
